Prepare for a legal consultation in Nepal
Use this worksheet to explain your situation clearly and make the most of your consultation. Gather what you already have. Your lawyer can identify which documents are relevant and what else is needed.
Explain your situation
- Write the outcome you want to achieve.
- List the key events in date order. Mark any dates you are unsure about.
- Note where you and the other people involved currently live.
- Write down any hearing dates, notices or deadlines already communicated to you.
Organise existing records
- List the identity, relationship, property or transaction records relevant to your question.
- Keep original documents separate from working copies.
- Group existing letters, messages, agreements and official notices by date.
- Note missing documents and differences in names or dates across records.
Ask during the consultation
- What options fit my circumstances, and what facts could change that advice?
- Which authority handles the next step?
- Which deadlines need checking immediately?
- What can a representative do, and when might I need to attend?
- What does the quoted fee include? Which government, translation or other charges are separate?
- What should I prepare next, and how should documents be shared securely?
