Australia to Nepal: divorce power-of-attorney checklist
The Embassy of Nepal in Canberra lists a power-of-attorney service for Nepali citizens authorising a representative for divorce matters in Nepal. Its instructions require an appointment and the principal to attend and sign at the Embassy. An attested document does not by itself determine how a court will handle your case.
Documents listed by the Embassy
- Power of attorney in the prescribed legal format.
- Joint formal application addressed to the Embassy.
- Copy of the marriage certificate.
- Citizenship copies for the principal and representative.
- Principal’s Nepali passport and valid visa copy.
- Two photographs each for the principal and representative.
Before making travel arrangements
- Read the Embassy’s current eligibility instructions, especially if your nationality has changed.
- Confirm the appointment, current fee and document requirements directly with the Embassy.
- Ask a Nepal lawyer to check the authority granted in the draft against the intended case.
